The Opportunity

A growing independent naval architecture and engineering practice is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Southampton team. This position is focused on delivering meaningful engineering solutions for an international portfolio of superyacht clients.

You will take ownership of structural design deliverables, maintaining strict technical standards across all phases of project execution. Leadership is a key element of this position. You will supervise project teams of engineers and designers while maintaining your own primary design workload. Key Responsibilities

  • Structural Calculations: Perform and check engineering design calculations for bespoke structures.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Verify that all structural designs meet flag state, national authority, and classification society rules.

  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the technical quality, detailing, and formal checking of team outputs before external release.

  • Technical Communication: Coordinate directly with clients, classification societies, and yards to resolve technical queries efficiently.

  • Project Management: Manage personal and team workloads across multiple active projects to meet strict deadlines.

Requirements

    An established engineering consultancy is expanding its design team in Southampton. We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to complex superyacht projects from conception through to refit.

    In this role, you will deliver high-level engineering design work while ensuring all technical specifications and classification standards are met. You will also provide technical guidance to multi-disciplinary colleagues and supervise project-specific engineering teams when required. Innovation is central to our operation. Located on the UK south coast they employ and operate a team across all areas of large yacht engineering and have multiple awards to their name.
