Here at SYR we're working with a leading brand in the design and engineering of superyachts, based in Italy. 

With a history of yacht projects from 24-80m, the studio has more than 30 years of design and engineering behind it and is partnered with a number of major international shipyards to bring their ideas to life. With a recent restructure has come extra growth and a leap in new business. As a result there is now a need to grow the engineering team with a structural naval architect at a mid-level. 

Reporting into the department lead, the role comes with the following duties:

- Structural design and modelling  of hulls and appendages for both new build and refit projects in steel and aluminium

- Structural design for the integreation of outfitting and machinery

- Creating of 3D/2D CAD for class approval 

- CAD creation for shipyard manfactring

- Structural calculations for both global and local structures

 

In a canddate we seek someone from a degree background in mechanical engineering or naval architecture with 3-4 years of postgraduate experience, ideally in yacht naval architecture and engineering. You'll be aware of the various classes and codes in the 30-80m space and be confident engineering structures that will adhere to these requirements and be able to present drawings in the correct and most accurate manner for approval. Both 3D and 2D CAD skills to a high level will also be expected. 

Of interest but not essential is an understanding of/experience with FEA

 

The role will see you based in Northern Italy within the team offices. As such, we are ideally seeking a candidate fluent in both Italian and English, given the international nature of the client base. On offer is an attractive salary of up to €40,000 plus further benefits alongside a chance to grow within a sizeable team
