Head of Engineering & Industrialisation

We are working with an ambitious and fast-evolving yacht manufacturer entering a pivotal stage of growth. Having successfully launched their first model, the business is now transitioning from prototype to structured, scalable production — and they are seeking a senior technical leader to drive that evolution.

This is not a design-led role. It is a hands-on, production-focused leadership position for someone who understands how to turn engineering into efficient, repeatable build.

You will take full ownership of engineering and industrialisation across the yacht, acting as the critical link between design intent and production reality.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the technical backbone of a growing shipyard — establishing systems, standards, and processes that will define future production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own all technical decisions across the yacht platform

  • Lead and coordinate internal engineers and external design partners

  • Translate design concepts into buildable, production-efficient solutions

  • Establish structure across BOMs, standards, and technical documentation

  • Drive continuous product improvement based on real build feedback

  • Challenge suppliers and designers to optimise for cost, efficiency, and quality

What We’re Looking For

This role demands credibility on the shop floor as much as in the boardroom.

You must bring:

  • Proven experience within a yacht or boatbuilding shipyard (essential)

  • Direct involvement in vessel builds — not purely design office exposure

  • Strong collaboration with production teams

  • Experience refining and improving designs post-prototype

  • A solid grasp of multi-system integration (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural)

  • The confidence to challenge and influence both internal and external stakeholders

Ideal Background

  • Custom or semi-custom yacht builders

  • Small to mid-sized shipyards where engineers are close to production

  • Environments where speed, adaptability, and ownership are critical

Your First 6–12 Months

You will be measured on your ability to bring structure, control, and efficiency:

  • Build and implement a complete, structured BOM

  • Standardise engineering outputs and documentation

  • Improve production efficiency and reduce cost overruns

  • Strengthen control over external design partners

  • Embed a culture of continuous technical improvement

Why This Role

This is a defining position within a business on the cusp of scale. You will not inherit a finished system — you will build it.

For the right individual, this offers genuine influence, visibility, and the opportunity to leave a lasting technical legacy within a growing yacht builder.

If you have real shipyard experience and are motivated by building something from the ground up, we would welcome a confidential conversation. An attractive remuneration package and continued career growth are offered
