The Role

As a Graduate Design Engineer, you will transition from academic theory to the practical application of marine architecture and mechanical systems. You will work on the end-to-end development of professional-grade craft, including search and rescue, patrol, and specialized commercial vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Design: Utilizing CAD/CAM software to develop hull structures, internal layouts, and propulsion integrations.

  • Material Innovation: Assisting in the optimization of HMWPE and other recyclable polymers to enhance vessel longevity.

  • System Integration: Designing and documenting electrical, hydraulic, and navigation systems tailored for sub-zero and high-latitude operations.

  • Lifecycle Management: Collaborating with production teams to ensure design specifications meet rigorous Scandinavian safety and performance standards.

Location & Lifestyle

The company is situated in a remote, breathtaking region of the High North. This is a lifestyle choice for an individual who finds inspiration in solitude and the natural world.

  • Arctic Living: You will be based at the heart of the operations. This environment demands a specific temperament—someone who thrives away from the congestion of major cities and enjoys the pace of life in a remote coastal community.

  • Outdoor Immersion: The location provides immediate access to world-class skiing, hiking, and sea-based activities. It is an ideal setting for a graduate who values an active, nature-centric lifestyle.

  • Purposeful Isolation: Working where the vessels are built and tested allows for a deep connection to the product. You will see your designs face the exact environmental challenges they were engineered to withstand.

Requirements

We are seeking a candidate who possesses both technical rigor and the resilience required for life in a remote northern outpost.

  • Academic Background: A degree (BEng, MEng, or MSc) in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong foundational knowledge of 3D modeling software (e.g., Rhino, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD).

  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, suitable for collaborating with diverse stakeholders.

  • Administrative Eligibility: Strictly required: Full, unrestricted right to work within Europe. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this specific graduate intake.

  • Mindset: A proactive, "self-starter" attitude with a genuine desire to relocate to a remote, sub-arctic environment.

Why This Opportunity?

This is not a traditional corporate graduate scheme. You will be given immediate responsibility in a lean, expert team. You will be part of a culture that views boat building as an art form supported by uncompromising engineering, all while living in one of the most dramatic landscapes on earth.
