Are you an experienced Chief Engineer or Engineering Manager based in the EU and seeking a new challenge?
SYR are pleased to be working in close partnership with a well established brand in the superyacht and marine worlds. Offer a host of refit and maintenance offerings in their home country of Malta alongside mobile international maintenance and support services they are regional distributors for a number of well know engine and engineering brands. Due to the retirement of their current engineering manager they are now seeking an experienced engineer to take on the leadership of their 15-strong engineering team.
Reporting into the COO, this is a leadership role which will offer the chosen individual a diverse and challenging opportunity, with the following duties:
- Leadership and management of an on-site and mobile team of engineers ensuring strong planning to provide clients with a timely response on planned and emergency maintenance works
- Being the first and direct point of contact for manufacturers, shipyards and clients on all engineering matters
- Working directly with the brands you distribute to ensure suitable training and product expertise in maintained across the team
- Budgeting and planning for the department, ensuring maximum resource usage and strong profitability
- Reporting into the board on departmental performance, investment and growth
- Being an ambassador for the brand at all times, be it in person or through off-site event or shipyard visits.
Our ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer coming from either a seafaring chief engineer role or as an engineering manager within the maritime world. Critical skills for the role will include the ability to deal directly with clients in a suitable manner and time spent leading teams of 10 or more on engineering projects. You will have gained extensive hands on experience with the major brands, with MTU being a focus of your experience. You will be operationally strong, commercially savvy and enjoy a challenge.
The role will be based in Malta with some travel and so any candidate will need to either already be based locally or be prepared to relocate. English language fluency is also essential.
