Aftersales Engineer

Location: Dartmouth, Devon, UK (with regular UK & international travel)

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Aftersales Engineer to become a key member of their technical team, supporting customers, dealers and vessels worldwide throughout their operational lifecycle.

The Role

This is a senior, hands-on engineering position suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges both in the workshop and on-site with customers. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out commissioning, warranty investigations, repairs and technical support across a range of bespoke leisure craft and superyacht tenders.

The role requires extensive knowledge across mechanical, electrical and onboard marine systems, alongside a strong understanding of modern boat construction and composite manufacturing. As the technical face of the business, you will regularly travel throughout the UK and internationally to support customers, dealers and vessels in service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical aftersales support for custom-built RIBs and superyacht tenders.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and systems-related faults.
  • Carry out commissioning, sea trials and vessel handovers.
  • Attend customer sites, marinas, shipyards and superyachts to undertake repairs and technical investigations.
  • Manage warranty claims from initial diagnosis through to completion, ensuring excellent customer communication throughout.
  • Produce detailed technical reports following inspections and warranty investigations.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to identify recurring issues and implement long-term improvements.
  • Support dealer networks and service partners with technical guidance and troubleshooting.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while representing the business professionally on-site.
  • Assist with technical documentation, service bulletins and maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and to the highest quality standards.

About You

We're looking for an experienced marine professional who combines strong technical ability with excellent customer-facing skills. You'll be comfortable working independently, travelling internationally and solving complex engineering issues in demanding environments.

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience working within a leisure marine manufacturer or shipyard.
  • Previous experience building, commissioning, servicing or maintaining high-performance leisure craft, RIBs, luxury tenders or similar vessels.
  • Strong knowledge of marine mechanical, electrical and onboard vessel systems.
  • Proven experience diagnosing and resolving technical faults.
  • Broad understanding of modern boat construction methods, including composite manufacturing and marine outfitting.
  • Experience managing warranty cases and technical investigations.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK and internationally.

Desirable Experience

  • Marine engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent).
  • Experience with inboard and outboard propulsion systems.
  • Knowledge of CANbus, NMEA 2000 and modern vessel electronics.
  • Experience working with premium yacht builders or superyacht tenders.
  • Electrical or hydraulic system qualifications.
  • RYA Powerboat or other relevant marine certifications.
